Kalena Thwaits

Kalena Thwaits is a first-generation college graduate and a proud Texas transplant. After graduating from Texas A&M, she worked with Advise Texas in Klein ISD as a college counselor assisting high school students with the college admissions process and earned a master certificate in academic advising. Upon completion of her time with Advise Texas, she joined Houston ISD as a College Counselor specializing in working with McKinney-Vento students. During her time at HISD, she co-created Texas’ first LGBTQ+ student summit and led multiple department committees. Kalena holds a master of education in Higher Education Administration from Sam Houston State University.
